Entkunstung Journal is an independent forum for contemporary art, theory and criticism. Furthermore, the journal is a curatorial, artistic and philosophical platform that seeks to map and unveil contemporary art discourses and promotes the need of rethink and reformulate traditional concepts and theories in order to comprehend nowadays art practices and culture.

There is an unsatisfied reason in the experience of art and it’s exactly this dissatisfaction and discontent what motivates us to study and to think further Contemporary Art. We are facing the winter of our discontent, but still the panorama is more promising than we think.
The essence of art is to communicate, to give reasons, to promote a dialogue and to be intelligible by finding its receptor. Nevertheless, the atomization and plurality of practices and discourses in arts have altered the dialogue between the piece of art and the spectator, making this act of communication and understanding more complex than it has ever been.
Philosophy is behind artistic expressions when it comes to understand and to give answers to the zeitgeist of every époque. Theories, as always, comes post festum, they need time to reflect and to give reasons, explanations and answers to any kind of cultural manifestation of our society, especially the aesthetic one.
Entkunstung Journal seeks to compare, to contrast, to reflect and to give some tools to analyse and understand the reasons, methods, medium(s) and the history through which artists communicate their vision of the world in an aesthetical way and the importance of having a basic knowledge of contemporary art theories, theories that try to bring order to the chaos created by contemporary art practices.
If life were completely rational, if everything in this world appeared to us full of sense and in order, we wouldn’t have the need for making art, neither would we spend our time making philosophies or inventing religions.
